2019 Abarth 595 Competizione

2019 Abarth 595 Competizione

Description

Almost the ultimate performance new generation Fiat 500 model, the 595 Competizione is the very embodiment of the phrase ‘pocket rocket’. With 180 Italian horses champing at the bit, a limited slip differential, racing style Abarth Corsa by Sabelt GT cloth seats as
standard, special ‘Montecarlo’ alloy wheels, a hidden radio aerial, covered by an aluminum 595 cap and an expensive aesthetic customisation kit, this little roadburner is the perfect compromise between the all-out and quite frankly infrequently usable and rather
frenetic and noisy 695 Biposto limited edition model and the ubiquitous 500 driven by countless style-conscious city slickers - both sexes included here of course!

The Competizione retains the 500’s cute looks and diminutive proportions, which are a huge contrast to the big, aggressive noise it makes, firmly marking it out as a serious little road missile - there is a Sport button to adjust the engine delivery, steering,
electronic safety net and the Record Monza exhaust. The TFT instruments also switch to a racing mode.

The interior belies its humble 500 origins, with racy features such as aluminium pedals and foot-rest, and standard on the Competizione model are Koni FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) dampers and four piston Brembo brakes with 305mm drilled and vented discs.

The infotainment system was upgraded for 2019 (as in the car offered here) with a seven-inch Uconnect HD touchscreen with sat nav and smartphone mirroring, and Abarth telemetry, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 6 loudspeakers, aluminium pedals
and foot-rest. The steering wheel is bound in leather and Alcantara with further detailing in carbon and Alcantara.

The car offered here was registered in May 2019 and has covered just 5,500 miles in the hands of its sole owner, a mature enthusiast who has a collection of cars which have outgrown his garaging facilities, hence the sale of this fabulous little car. Finished in
the rare Lime Green colour and equipped with the expensive option of the sequential automatic transmission, complete with shift paddles, or robotised sequential gearbox in Abarth-speak, it is pristine and unmarked, almost indistinguishable from new.

Our view:
Where the MINI Cooper S and various JCW versions fail to be exciting ‘mini’ cars, due to their girth and bulk, this little Abarth really does transport one back to a time when small cars were just that, and it rewards the driver with a driving intimacy and connectedness
with the road that brings a grin to one’s face every time you drive it. There really are few cars that offer as much fun at this price point; classic but with all the convenience features that one has come to expect from a modern car.
